Breeding Performance Ponies

Here at Matuvu Stud, we aim to breed quality, up to height ponies for all three Olympic Disciplines. We stand for Performance ponies with temperaments to match. All ponies are bred and raised here on the beautiful, rolling hills of South Gippsland. They  are all treated as individuals and receive  extensive handling and groundwork from an early age. We break in the ponies ourselves and all care is taken to ensure  the ponies are ready to continue their ridden carreers with either children or small adults before leaving our property.

A Matuvu pony is a pony for the whole family to enjoy! 

The Mares

As with any good breeding program, our mares tell the story. They are all quality mares, handpicked from all over Australia with kind temperaments and performance pedigrees.  I have been very lucky to acquire these mares from some of the best pony studs around. At present, we have one Connemara mare,one Welsh B mare and one New Forest Pony mare in our broodmare herd. We breed 1-2 foals every year and aim to best  complement the mares using stallions from across a variety of pony breeds by using chilled or frozen semen.
We have used so far German Riding Pony, Welsh B and Swedish Riding Pony stallions.
